The National Elections Watch (NEW) held a meeting few weeks back to look into certain negative developments presently taking place within the civil society organization circle and the country as a whole.
The meeting also focused on the just concluded tripartite committee and its recommendations and was done to also find out a way forward.
Unfortunately, the Wise Bird was never invited to the meeting but as the bird is always hungry for news. The brave bird was able to force his way into the meeting hall uninvited.
At the meeting the bird sat quietly as he was not invited like other guests, he did not write anything, but knowing the bird to have a photographic brain, all what was said at the meeting was copied in his brain without writing any details said there.
At the meeting almost all Civil Society Organizations were present and the brave bird was told that, some attendees went to the meeting only to respect the invitation not to go there with an open mind.
However, issues relating to national development took a center stage at the meeting, what came out clearly at the meeting was that some of NEW’s recommendations after the June 24, 2023 were factored into the just concluded tripartite committee recommendations.
The disunity and/ or divisions within the civil society organizations were also part of the discussion.
As the brave bird is a keen listener he got all what speaker after speaker said at the meeting, he learned that the disunity within the CSO’s was born as a result of political affiliations, as some CSOs are operatives of the present system; they are under the umbrella of civil society.
According to the information the bird got was that another meeting will be held again to cement all the cracks within the organizations.
After the meeting the Wise Bird went out to sound the views of people on the meeting of NEW, and almost all those the bird contacted expressed dissatisfaction over the work of civil society organizations in the country.
The people said almost all civil society organizations in the country are operatives of government, some are APC and others are SLPP and that is making the organizations to be deeply divided as the people have said.
Relying on their explanations, they even cited the cases of N’kolocata and Joseph Sanu that took political appointments.
