A nation with little over seven million people is faced with serious socio-economic and political challenges coupled with abysmal human rights violations, bad governance and manipulation of the judiciary system.
With poor standard of living for the ordinary citizens, the youthful population resolved to engage the country’s authorities through peaceful demonstration which is a legal democratic principle of good governance enshrined in the national constitution on 10th August, 2022.
A cabal of young elites regarded and believed to be supporters of the main opposition APC party staged a peaceful protest against the ruling SLPP government. These youths were indicted and referred to as collaborators of the August 10th insurrection in the country hence, the security sector (Sierra Leone Police) declaring them most wanted for trials.
Prominent among the collaborators (Protesters) are young graduates from the country’s main Universities-University of Sierra Leone (FBC) and Njala University. According to sources within government circles, one key person considered to bear the greatest responsibility of the insurgence and is on the run is James Harrison whom a ransom has been placed on his head for arrest. Recently, Mr. Harrison’s ransom has been increased by the central government for whosoever will give a lead to his arrest, since he is believed to be aiding and abetting the 11/9 demonstration this year.
