Hon. Alpha Jabbie Maddie has blamed the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) for failing to inform the ministry on the examination centres remaining and those cancelled.
He’s the Chairman of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBESS) in parliament.
He cited the blame on the lack of communication or misinformation between the ministry and WACE which resulted to the deprivation of many pupils from taking the exams.
Hon. Maddie said many students would have suffered a lot for transferring them to write their elsewhere.
Hon. Maddie noted that WAEC should have given a month notice to these centres before cancelling many of the examination centres.
Hon. Maddie called on WAEC to reconsider such action as the exams is around the corner.
A representative from WAEC one Mr. Koroma admitted that they do not inform the ministry about such action.
Mr. Koroma said WAEC was able to maintain the various examination centres due to the lack of finance and financial burden involved.
He said whenever there are exams around they are constrained in terms of moving examination materials from one point to another including staff.
He said that was why they decided to nullify or combine certain examination centres.
