The former President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has called for a calm in the upcoming SLFA delegates’ election in the country.
In her revelation during the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the ex-SLFA boss said she had experienced several ruthless and unabated attacks from within football stakeholders in Sierra Leone fondly known as the football family.”
Noting the surprisingly ongoing conflict which have stunted the growth and development of the
beautiful game of football, the most popular sport in the country.
“Regrettably of the real victims of this decline are the youth, our children. We’ve stolen the future they deserve and all we give them are broken promises. In spending our energy fighting and in disunity, we fail to provide them the platform from which to realize their potential and live their dreams,” she said.
Meanwhile, after the CAF General Assembly in Ethiopia yesterday, she had a closed-door meeting with SLFA President Thomas Brima and the legendary football icon Mohammed Kallon.
Thus meeting was led by my fellow Fifa Council Member and CAF Exec Colleague Amaju Pinnick from Nigeria, Mustapha Raj CAF Exco and
Liberian FA President and Ibrahim Gusau, Nigerian FA President, were also in attendance to bringing peace among stakeholders in SLFA.
“I thank these brothers of mine warmly.” The long-standing football administrator, Rodney Michael also endorsed the resolution of the meeting to stand as a united force to foster peace and growth in Sierra Leone football. This call goes out to all leaders and stakeholders in our football family.
My stance on good governance and Integrity in football is unwavering, and our unity can only maintain peace and foster growth with the return of these values into football in Sierra Leone, ” Madam Isha Johansen said.
