In one of their meetings held at the All People’s Congress (APC) headquarters last week, members and party supporters, have expressed what they perceive as ‘the doom posture’ style of leadership by their leader Dr. Samura Kamara.
They said he is yet to show them the road map to the so-called electoral justice after the controversial June, 2023 general elections.
Hon Abdul Kargbo, the opposition leader in Parliament said at the Women’s Congress meeting, it was said there “if a leader fears to go to jail then he is not a leader.”
Hon Kargbo highlighted several shortfalls and inconsistencies in the leadership of the party. He said SLPP regime contributed to these inconsistencies in governance.
According to Hon. Kargbo, people had been killed in Makeni over resisting to withhold a power generator that some group of police officers had forcefully wanted to remove at the Makeni power house.
Other killings, he said, happened in Tombo, at the Pademba Road prison and on August 10, 2022.
Yet the APC leadership remained silent over such killings by the government in the past.
He charged that, the worst of all was the removal of 10 MPs few years back.
He said but the APC leader of the opposition, Dr. Samura had kept mute on such an ugly issue.
He said the mid-term senses were conducted and the leader also accepted and didn’t do anything about it.
Hon Kargbo mentioned that a proportional representation was also executed contrary to the law and that the leadership dooms on or hates such practices.
He asked that if every unconditional activities were carried out by the government and the leadership did not do anything in the name of peace.
How do the APC expect to win elections?
He said this time round will be a thing of the past and as opposition, he is ready to lead against anything that is u constitutional.
He also spoke on how electoral justice has no road map and how it been carried out.
The Chief Whip of the opposition, Abdul Karim Kamara, also expressed frustration over Dr Samura Kamara’s behavior to be saying he won the 2023 general elections.
He has also accused Dr Samura Kamara telling the opposition MPs of joining the government on MCC.
He maintained that persistently supporters of Dr Samura are abusing leaders of the party and he did nothing about it.
The party members are curiously waiting for electoral justice and how it been carried out.
In parliament during the approval of the MCC bill, the Opposition MPs persistently spoke on the need for government to adhere to the conditions set for the full implementation of the MCC fund.
The National Unity’s agreement and the tripartite recommendations were the two conditions attached before the MCC fund was disbursed lately last month.
However, the opposition has urged the government to do the needful.
Meanwhile, Dr Samurai’s hopes are primarily focus on seeing the implementation of the 84 recommendations.
And he is wishing that the rerun should not be downplayed as ECSL have failed to produce the disaggregated elections’ results.
