Addressing thousands of people and community children and stakeholders at the Grassfield Community Field in Freetown, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AWWO foundation, Mr Umar Fuad Bawoh, said he started his organization way back when he was quite young and that during those days his foundation was more dealing with children and this motivated him to form his foundation so as to help the vulnerable children.
He said AWWO, few years back, had successfully fed 1,500 children and last year alone, there were over 2,000 children benefitted thereby increasing it to 3,500 this year, a figure and amount he promised to increase in the coming years.
He stated that his organization has no boundary and neither does it segregate children irrespective of their tribe, region and their parents’ political affiliation.
He maintained that his organization, apart from feeding community children, it has embarked on a number of projects including the provision of electricity for the Grassfield community field, the distribution of learning materials, and the offering of scholarships to children among others.
He called on community stakeholders and parents to take a good care of their children so that their future will be a bright one.
In his keynote address, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Dr Kadijatu Grace Ahene Kamara, thanks AWWO and its CEO, Mr Bawoh for the support giving to the underprivileged children at a time they needed it most.
She said this is the time of investment that President of Sierra Leone is looking for, and she said developing children is the foundation for the growth of any country’s development.
She however called on Sierra Leoneans to emulate the sternly example of AWWO and its CEO.
Other community stakeholders who made statements during the program lauded the work of AWWO especially its CEO Mr. Bawoh for his humanitarian work to the vulnerable children.
Underscoring that what the organization has done and still doing is immeasurable.
The program was climaxed by the distribution of food and drinks to 3,500 kids in an event marked with ‘pump and pageantry’.
