The Wise Bird is always getting amazing and unpleasant news about the daily happenings in the country.
This time again, the bird has just got correct and confirmed news that the Sierra Leone Standards Bureau in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry has just introduced new measuring system using cups.
The introduction of the new cups has already taken effect since 1st November 2024.
It said the measurement will affect rice, oil, salt, sugar, pepper and other things that have to do with measurement in the country.
The information went further to say that, it is PAOPA (by force) that, everybody MUST adhere to the newly introduced measurement of cups.
The brave bird starts to wonder as to what actually brought about the idea of implementing new cup measurement in markets when the government cannot bring a single cup of rice, sugar, salt to the country down per cost.
The brave bird is of the view that, before thinking of introducing measurement system (cup), the first thing the Ministry of Trade and Standards Bureau should have done is to make available in the markets all the different types of commodities in question in abundance for the public.
The question the most respected, patriotic and uncompromising animal wants to ask is when one wants to measure anything, what should first come to mind, is it the content or the container?
Does this make sense to people? The bird continues to ask, how can one measure without the item or thing to be measured?
The bird will say without hesitation that, the idea of measurement came as a result of those at the Ministry of Trade and Standards Bureau to get their kick-backs at the end of the process.
The amount of money presented to government in respect of the measurement of cups is quite different from the real cost on ground. The bird will bet its neck if ACC is to investigate this and what will come out will be super amazing.
The bird sounded the views of people about the current announced measurement of cups. All those the bird contacted expressed surprise over the introduction of the measurement of cups in the country, and those interviewed said the whole new idea is just nonsensical.
They said the first thing that should have come into mind by those concerned is to make available the products or cereals before thinking of a new cup system of measurement.
Almost everyone was strongly against the introduction of measurement system in play when there is no plenty of rice, sugar, salt, oil on sale in the markets.
All what they have done is all rubbish said the people.
Standards Bureau and the Ministry of Trade are JOKERS to say the least.
