Bamoi which is in Kambia District, North West Region of Sierra Leone, is a central business hub for Guinea and Sierra Leone. It has got a new face in as the rate of crime has been reduced there by police.
Over the years criminals have given a bad reputation to this all important business centre in Sierra Leone which also benefits Conakry Guinea as traders on both ends conduct business in this place.
However, with community vigilantes helping the police through community policing strategy, crime there has eased a little. The criminals have been giving a bloody chased out.
Business people are carrying out their activities especially over the weekend which is the normal market days.
Talking to Detective police officer 15296
Felix Peter Rogers who is the crime officer attached at Bamoi Police Station in Kambia, in a snap interview, he told our reporter that the police could not work in isolation, adding that the police believe in community policing which the modern policing practice is observed worldwide. Adding that he and his boss that is the office commander or superintendent Joseph Moseray has engaged him in community sensitization with stakeholders, students in schools, traders in market places.
He is sensitizing them on crimes and about the consequences of committing a crime.
A Crime will not help any community to grow, he said.
Asked what the crimes that are normally committed at Bamoi are community, Detective Rogers, said cases like store breaking, licensing, false pretenses, obtaining money by fraud and among others are some of the crimes usually committed by some men.
The Detective Rogers pleaded with all to report to the police station any strange person seen within their community since police cannot be everywhere on moves to tracking out criminals.
