The Wise Bird in trying to investigate about the cost of living in the country, the attention of the bird is drawn to South-Eastern part of the country.
The bird contacted his friend the Eagle who stays in those areas to give him latest happenings in those areas.
The Eagle extended an invitation to his friend the wise bird; and so the bird flew quickly to respect the invitation.
On arrival in Moyamba, the first question that was put to the bird was. What did you bring for us? We are dying of hunger here.
The Wise Bird was having few Leones on him, and so he gave it to them to buy a few cups of rice for that day, and he was deeply astonished to have noticed the suffering of the people in that area.
The bird together with his friend, that is, the Eagle left Moyamba town heading to few other villages to see whether the situation in those areas is the same.
To their dismay, the situation is worst in smaller villages, people go on bed a day without a staple food (rice) because a cup of rice is very expensive to afford.
The brave bird flew to Bonthe, the home town of the President Maada Bio to get firsthand information about the cost of living in that area, and without exaggeration the bird could say Moyamba is better off compared to Bonthe.
The hardship in Bonthe is high than the sky as people live on cassava with crabs for their daily bread.
As the bird believes in investigation, he did not stop in Bonthe so he flew to Pujehun. From what the bird noticed, Pujehun is another area where hardship is biting people very hard.
A cup of rice in Pujehun is between NLe 10.00 and NLe 12.00 per cup plus minus living in those areas is more than difficult for the people.
Having collected some information in respect of the cost of living in some parts in the South-East, the bird did not go to Kenema and Bo because he knew the situation might be some how different in those towns.
The bird did not just collect information on the cost of living, but interviewed few people to get more, all those the bird interviewed shared the same experience about the high cost of all essential goods particularly the staple food rice.
Some people even told the bird that, they are disappointed with the present situation, saying that these days no improvement is seen on the hardship situation.
In Bonthe, a gentle-man who gave his name as Alfred Tommy, said they are in shame because they have been accused of having the President still they are suffering for their survival.
He added that, few people are enjoying, majority are suffering today in Sierra Leone.
Madam Marie Sanu said the situation is becoming very much unbearable for them these days under this regime.
Will this continue till the end of the five (5) year of this Gov’t? someone asked.
