The Sierra Leone People’s Party Members of Parliament, Hon Musa Lahai and others have informed the House of Representatives that looking at the budget and its development projections “by 2025 Sierra Leone is going to be a heaven on earth.”
The MP made the submissions when delivering his debate on the budget table parliament by the Minister of Finance last week.
According to Hon Musa Lahai there will be no development without peace and security, adding that 2025 budget is aimed at only increasing salaries of both military and police personnel and such increment will benefit thousands.
He highlighted that catering the welfare of the security forces means peace is guaranteed in the country, stating that additional security personnel will be recruited as stated by the budget.
Hon Lahai also boasted that there is a sharp decline of importation of food commodities especially the staple food (rice), this he said, it is as a result of the stabilization of the economy and the improvement of fiscal discipline.
The SLPP MP underscored the need for opposition MPs and Sierra Leoneans to applaud President Bio and his government for the unwavering commitment on promoting nation building.
He cited the feed Salone project, education and human capital development as progressive.
He maintained that after the implementation of 2025 budget Sierra Leoneans will not go hungry, adding the country will be a heaven on earth and a place of peace to live.
Another SLPP MP, Hon Moiguwa said the 2025 budget will be achievable and it will change the narratives in politics.
He said the budget is time bound; adding that a lot has been done and achieved in 2024.
He therefore calls for a strengthening of compliance of audit by Audit Service Sierra Leone.
Hon Moiguwa revealed that the budget document presented to the is genuine and it is factual.
Hon. Francis A. Kaisamba of the (SLPP) who opens the debate on the 2025 budget citing fairly improved budgetary performance.
“Thanks to NRA for exceeding its target for the government to pay for services.”
He said the exchange rate had been stabilized and the finance has done all its responsibilities.
He said NRA has exceeded their target in 2024 and in 2025, hoping that the revenues generation institution will also do better.
He called on the people to put aside all prejudices and be honest in pushing for developments.
He said the government is also working to solve all bottlenecks for the exportation of the country’s fish to the EU market.
He assured that the government will continue to support the revenue generated institutions to promote development.
