As Leone Stars Head Coach Karim has again woefully failed to qualify the nation to Morocco 2025, fans in Sierra Leone and abroad, are desperately urging him to resign based on an outstanding poor performance in the latest football results in AFCON Qualifiers.
Some have blamed the coach including his backroom staff.
In an interview with some soccer fans at home and aboard, they said Karim’s squad could not secure qualification for Sierra Leone after the Leone Stars’ 1-1 draw against Chad and Zambia’s victory over Ivory Coast.
Sierra Leoneans are angry at the result of the home team after the coach had raised their hopes of reaching the team to compete in Morocco 2025.
However, the coach faied to achieve a positive result, which just affirms his sheer incompetence in football administration as coach. Coach Karim had this to say after the matches played.
“We are disappointed as technical staff and as a head coach for not making it to Morocco this time. Nonetheless, we are calling for his departure from the national team this time around again.”
Musa Sesay, Chairman, Area Beat FC, Waterloo said Leone Stars, were eliminated due to poor selection of players and the saga within the management and in the camp. Despite the million of Leones wasted on the national team without positive result, “we are calling on the attention of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and National Sports Authority (NSA), to seek for another coach with a pedigree of experience in coaching,”they said.
Kadiatu Konneh, Secretary General, London Base FC, told this press that Sierra Leonean skipper Steven Caulker, and Kei Kamara left their camp in Liberia over disagreement.
Adding that SLFA, NSA and Sports Ministry must search for a qualified coach instead.
“Fans are dismayed with the poor performance of the team who finished the group in a bad footing. They should have secured a positive result against Chad and Zambia, that would have been incredible finish for Salone, but to no avail,” she said.
