Above all, the facility has a maximum security post to enable customers to enjoy their stay unhindered.
In her welcome speech Madam Adama E.Turay Aka.Mummy Bangla Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the facility, who won the construction bid through competitive bidding process, underscores that “this is a golden opportunity for the people of Kambia and Gbalamuya in particular for having this facility erected in their chiefdom in Gbele Dixon.
“So let us be watch dogs to ensure people don’t misuse the facility.” Adding that the facility is not only for Kambians but “equally for our people in Guinea and persengers going across Sierra Leone.
“That is why since I won the contract I had added a value to the facility to make it look more attractive.”
She however appealed to residents for the relocation of the metal gate which is under the supervision of National Revenue Authority (NRA) and Sierra Leone Police (SLP).
The gate, she said, should be relocated to its former location, that is, at the border end between Sierra Leone and Guinea right at the NRA custom post area.
“If this is done persengers or traveller in case the border closes can have access to use the facility.”
He stated further that the current location of the metal gate is rightly located in Kambia which will hinder people not to access the facility when custom closes down either by six or seven O’clock.
In his address the Chairman for Kambia District Council Mohamed Mansarico Mansaray said Kambia is the face of Sierra Leone since the facility is located right at the Gbalamuya Custom.
“We need to replicate what is happening in other countries. That is why we erected this facility here with modern facilities which can make Sierra Leone to look like a place to do business.”
This project will also help to create jobs for our youth here.
He requested the people to make use of the facility if not it would turn to a white elephant project.
” Let us don’t misuse this opportunity, if we do, we shall not have it again for the next ten years.
The money we generate here Council will use it to undertake other projects,” he said.
