The wise bird is always with the people; he is not with a particular system, and this is more the reason the wise bird is loved by the people.

The only thing some people will say about the brave bird is that the bird talks too much and sometimes his several talks are yielding good dividend.

As the wise bird continues to turn the pages of the Audit Report of 2022, the wise bird was quick to turn to page 173 of the report and he saw a sub-caption entitled, End-of-service benefit not paid.

Bra Parrot also noticed that about 645 staff was in the books of the Sierra Leone Airport Authority (SLAA) as of 31st December, 2023.

According to the report the employees were terminated on the 19th January 2023.

The report went further to say that the total ‘end-of-service benefits’ amounted to SLE 171,052,649 the amount, the report went on-the benefit of those workers had neither paid nor disclosed as notes to the Financial Statement.

Simply put, the workers have still not received their end-of-service benefits.

However, according to the report a letter dated 20th March, 2023 was addressed to the Senior Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the note verbal was requesting the office to facilitate the process of payment of the employee’s benefits.

Anyway, the wise bird will make a follow-up on the matter to the letter.
