The Wise Bird is in sympathy with the people of Sierra Leone, on the rate at which some expired goods are presently sold in the markets; it is a cause for concern.

When one takes a walk along the Sani Abacha Street, Lumley Street, and Wilberforce Street, Regent Road and PZ roundabout, you will see exactly the situation on ground on how expired products are flooding the markets on stalls.

What the bird has noticed as being the primary reason for seeing such a situation is the too much hardship in the country and also lack of monitoring and supervision by food standards inspectors in the country.

In the 70s, 80s and up to the 90s, the Ministry of Trade and Industry was having trade inspectors walking around markets to see and know whether expired goods are sold in the markets.

The brave bird does not want to put the blame squarely on the present government as this practice has been going on for decades in the country.

What the bird has noticed again is that, an inspectorate division is in the Ministry and funds are allocated for the purpose of which the division is set up but  personnel do not exist in physical terms to do food and goods inspection work.

The question we are asking is where are those funds been going?

To private pockets or go back to the consolidated revenue fund account?

The Wise Bird has been moving from shop to shop, store to store in the city to find out the source of expired goods.

The bird noticed that, when goods are expired, a new label of expiring date is placed on the goods to give it new life, to the disadvantage of the common man.

From the investigation the bird did, it is clear that, there is a syndicate between shop owners and senior workers at the Ministry of Trade and Industry who are doing things at the detriment of the people.

The wise bird also has noticed that, many expired drugs are also in circulation in some pharmacies in the country.

The so-called health inspectors do not go after the big pharmacies because they get kickbacks from those they supposed to check, instead they are always after those guys selling Panadol on the streets.

The brave bird has now seen the reason(s) why people are always sick in the country.

It is because expired goods and drugs are sold to people unknowingly.

The bird will never support anybody or a group of people to do anything that will be at the detriment of the people of this country.

The bird loves the people so much that, and so he is always praying for happiness for the people.
