The Wise Bird always looks at national issues and by extension human interest issues, and that is more the reason the bird is loved by the people.
The bird was in Parliament few days ago during the hearing of the National Commission for Persons with Disability.
The hearing was chaired by Hon. Rugiatu Rosie Kanu and the chairman for the Commission Ambassador Dr. Vandy Konneh said among other things that there is always some amount of delays in the disbursement of funds.
Dr. Konneh highlighted some of the challenges in the Commission saying that they are enormous despite they’re disabled they are also human beings.
The bird overheard Konneh saying this time around that they’re optimistic for the Le 14million budget.
Concerns were also raised by Hon. Rugiatu about the number of women working in the Commission representing persons with disabilities noting that, it should be gender balance from top to bottom management.
The unfortunate part of the hearing was the unavailability of documents to support some of the claims raised by members, like for not receiving their budgeted amount asked for the financial year 2023 allegedly.
The problem the bird has with the Commission and other people responsible to handle the affairs of persons with disability is that these people are not treated with the seriousness they deserve.
Some of them are failing to realize, that disability is not inability. And so if the amount of money allegedly puts aside for persons with disability is true and correct then the brave bird will say without a hesitation that, the government or whosoever is responsible for the allocation of funds is a joker to be making mockery of the situation.
The question the bird wants to ask is that, is the Le 14million Commission anything to take the Commission from Up-gun to Waterloo?
The bird is of the views that a good number of the disabled persons are: Teachers, Nurses, Doctors, Lawyers, Police-officers, Kekeh riders to name but a few.
So, some of these people should have the same treatment just like others in society.
The Wise Bird has never made a case for people, but this time he is going to make a case for persons with disability.
Where will the Le 14million take the Commission to, is that enough for a whole Commission the bird asked?
