Due to some delays and alleged financial mismanagement issues, the Sierra Leone’s U15 national football team, has been forced to withdraw from the African Schools’ Championship qualifiers in Senegal, the reason, it is reported is based on administrative disasters.
Investigations have discovered that despite the team are preparing for the tournament over the past three months, issues with passport documentation, has led it to the withdrawal, an embarrassing setback for the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
Sources close to the team have revealed that during Chris Kamara’s tenure as General Secretary of the SLFA, a standard procedure was followed as all players invited to the national squad are provided with valid travel documents. If any player was lacking necessary paperwork to aid his travel, the FA would immediately process the paperwork for that player.
However, players who did not make the final squad were required to reimburse the costs of document.
