The Wise Bird has been receiving series of calls and messages from the people in order to confirm whether it is true that the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has accumulated Le 36 billion debt in just a six years rule.

As the bird commands a lot of respect from the people and he does not want to tell lies to the people he is representing, it had to fly to the Honorable House of Parliament to get factual information from some sober-minded politicians.

From records available, the bird can authoritatively say that, yes, indeed the information is clean and correct in his reporting.

According to records the bird can say without hesitation that from 2007 to 2018 Sierra Leone’s total debt stood at Le 15 billion running for a period of ten years. Comparatively, in a six year rule of the SLPP government,the country’s debts have accumulated  to Le 36 billion.

Records further show that 55% of Sierra Leone’s revenue is allocated to “debt servicing” which gives no space for national development to happen in the country.

The bird notices from records shown that, despite the worrying economic situation, the government still continues to take more loans, making the people of this country to continue to suffer in abject poverty.

The bird also has noticed that, even though the government is indebted to some huge amounts of money, the President is still appointing people to hold higher positions to be receiving huge salaries, allowances and other amenities at the detriment of the State and the people.

The bird as usual went out to get the views of people as to what is their take on the outstanding Le 36 billion debt added to the country’s previous debts.

Most of the people the bird came in contact with expressed no regrets.

According to them, they said they saw it all coming before, during and after the past two elections that if the SLPP is victorious these are some of the things they would be expecting them to do by putting the country at stake.

They further told the brave bird that, the monies based on the number of new jobs the President has created for his own people far supersedes the monies which are coming into government’s coffers to run the state.

“This is just the smoke; the fire is on its way,” they told the brave bird.
