It is often said that hard work, commitment, dedication and teamwork are the secret behind success at any place of work.
This has been manifested by the Local Unit Commander Chief Superintendent Fatmata Susan Kamara and team at the Lungi International Airport.
Her love, commitment and social interaction with her personnel made the latter and staff at other departments working with the police at the Lungi International Airport to celebrate her on Friday 15th September, 2023 by organizing a small cocktail party for her.
Delivering her keynote address, CSP Kamara told her personnel and other invited staff working in partnership with the police at the Airport, told that even though heaped praises on her, but the contributing factor the their achievements is teamwork, commitment and diligence.
“You need to show commitment to your job. Police is a good job but you have to get integrity towards your job and always try to be your brothers’ keepers. You have to show an agape love for each another so that when have retired you will not turn your face the other way when you meet your colleague you have been working with,” the LUC advised.
She added: “Let us work not for the eye seeing of the Inspector General of Police but the people who are the taxpayers whose taxes they are using to pay us. Let their tax money not go in vain.
We are the Inspector General here. Therefore, let us work honestly for the Inspector general who is far away so that the image of this our noble institution will continue to grow.”
The police chief insisted that police is a good career. If you stay in the job and retire honorably, the sky will be limit. If you have the opportunity to travel out of the country, anywhere you apply for job as long as you were not sacked you are sure to get it. But if you are sacked, trust me nobody will give you job except you work in your relative business center. Police, she said has made her what she is today, having attended training abroad, gone out on mission among others.
The secret behind this is love for the jobs, patience, content always accept whatever little that comes your way. I came to the police as a trained and qualified nurse, but with hard work and with the God that I believe in to be the true God I was brought to the administrative and operational sector of the police. I have worked for ten years at the Family Support Unit where I trained many officers in the job. Later, I went to Bo, Masiaka Police Division where I met dilapidated police quarters which I helped to change for the better, helped to transform the police station including the cell and today, police officers will like to work at Masiaka police station.
I was able to do so not with only my own small money but with the help of community people. I extended my to them through community policing strategy which helped me to carry out the transformation at Masiaka and above all the Paramount Chief Bomboli and the Chairman of Police Partnership Board Mr. Kargbo aka ‘Super’ were very much supportive.
She appealed to all for unity and to work for the development of Sierra Leone. “Sierra Leone is the only place we have. Let us be mindful of that,” she added.
