The Sierra Leone U-17 women’s Head coach Fatmata Turay has expressed a sad dismay as her side was held on a goalless draw against Central African Republic.
The game is the first leg of the Women’s U-17 World Cup African qualifiers played at the Southern Arena in Bo city, south of Sierra Leone.
Despite having several opportunities to score, Sierra Leone could not take advantage of their home field and so the visitors managed to secure a crucial away draw in the Race to Morocco U-17 World Cup.
Sports analysts say Head Coach Turay will need to boost her team’s performance in the ongoing tournament as they prepare for the second leg at the Multi-Purpose Japoma Stadium in Cameroon come Saturday.
The winner of this match will move on to the second round, where they will face the victor of the match between Guinea and Togo.
Salone coach acknowledged that the team played well but missed key scoring chances.
“We will return to work on strengthening our defense, midfield, and attack,” Coach Turay stated.
She remains optimistic that the team will qualify when playing in Cameroon next weekend.
She was emphasizing on the need for players to score and defend their side successfully.
