As Kush is now a pandemic in the country, the Regional Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Brima Kanneh, in a hasty response to the fight against drug abuse and intake of this sad crisis, led the apprehension of a female police officer, Fatmata Dumbuya.
Fatmat was attached at the Sahn Malen police station in a division in Pujehun district in Sierra Leone.
Found in possession of sixty (60) wraps of Kush during police operations, Fatmata faces disciplinary action and potential criminal charges.
AIG Brima Kanneh has condemned Fatmata’s actions as a betrayal of the police force’s values and integrity, assuring the public of swift and thorough investigations.
The female officer has been suspended from duty pending further inquiries and will potentially face charges related to illegal drug possession and distribution.
The suspect remains in police custody with investigations ongoing at the regional criminal investigation department, police headquarters.
Mr. Kanneh’s leadership, the Sierra Leone Police in the South reaffirms its commitment to combat drug abuse and other offenses, promising relentless efforts to arrest drug dealers and assures safer community.
On Wednesday, 27th March, 2024 police further told journalists that the SLP had made several arrests across country regarding the elimination of Kush cartels, sellers, and intakes at their headquarters on Gorge Street in Freetown. Five police officers were arrested and three had been sacked, two are still facing trial. Police call on the all Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to assist them with vital information relating Kush and other harmful drugs owned by bad people in the society. In a similar development, SLP also confirmed to journalists that 273 cars had been arrested and 37 were without licenses and others were with proper documentations.
However, speaking to critical Sierra Leoneans who refuse to identify themselves have strongly alleged that they have deep knowledge in the hideouts of Kush cartels and dealers in the. Moreover, they said relatives and family members of the incumbent government are also doing illegal Kush business.
