In the ongoing U-20 WAFU Zone A tournament in Monrovia, Liberia, Liberia Sport International (LSI) have intensely accused Goalkeeper Abu Bakarr Kamara playing for Sierra Leone U-20 Shooting Stars of age fraud and other related football malpractices. However, one of the Sierra Leone Premier league clubs, Wusum Stars have strongly refuted allegations of age fraud against their goalkeeper, Abu Bakarr Kamara, labeling the claims as “baseless, malicious, and unfounded.”
They said the allegations were purportedly made by Liberian Sports international, accusing Kamara of falsifying his age and falsely representing FC Kallon in the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup. According to their official press release, Wusum Stars FC clarified that Kamara, who is currently representing Sierra Leone’s U-20 team in the current WAFU Zone A tournament in Liberia, is on loan to Bo Rangers, the reigning champions of Sierra Leone’s top-tier league. The club emphasized that Kamara has no prior association with FC Kallon and has never played for any club in a CAF competition aside from Bo Rangers.
“Kamara is contracted to from United Stars Football Club, a Division-2 team based in Bo, following his outstanding performance during a loan spell with Alma Football Club in the 2023/2024 national playoffs,” the club stated. Wusum Stars stressed that the accusation of age fraud was entirely without merit, calling it an attempt to tarnish the reputation of their talented young goalkeeper.
The press release also reaffirmed the club’s confidence in Kamara’s integrity and their commitment to supporting him through this period.
Wusum Stars concluded by extending their best wishes to the Sierra Leone U20 team, affectionately known as the “Shooting Stars,” as they continue their campaign in the WAFU Zone A tournament, proudly representing the Green, White, and Blue of Sierra Leone.
Nevertheless, the club urged the general public, especially the football community, to disregard the false claims and rally behind the national team as they strive for success.
But the Liberia Sports international is still pursuing their investigations on the matter before the closing session of the tournament.
