Many Sierra Leoneans are of the opinion that the president has missed another opportunity to soften the minds of citizens, especially when poverty, starvation, inflation and brutality have become their amiable friends of his administration.
Others are of the view that the President has smelt the outcome of the Tripartite Recommendations as they may not favour him and as a result he is instilling fear in the minds of citizens.
However, Opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara during one of the parliamentary sittings, he robustly condemned those utterances saying they have the potential to fuel genocide.
“Our party would not support anything like coup d’état,” he said
“As a political party we are in existence because there are democratic institutions.” He made these statements in relation to the proclamations made by the president as he is indirectly accusing their party to be one of the problems of the nation and which is not.
He further noted that they are worried when the President made such utterances as they are living in a country where the police and the military would utilize any opportunity to suppress citizens’ freedom.
With those statements coming from the president, he added, there is probability to ignite the embers of violence in the country.
Opposition Chief Whip out rightly stated that the President is callous to the extent that he is well pleased with the current situation of the citizens irrespective of him being the cause of their predicaments.
He also noted that they are fed up with the flimsy excuses of the President to address the needs of the people as their pains surely become the root cause of his ineptitude to take up responsibility.
He therefore called on the President to be meticulous in addressing the nation as any statement coming from him will either make or unmake the society.
