The Sierra Leone Police in Kabala which is under the leadership of CSP Ibrahim Barrie (LUC) is continuing its robust fight against the dreadful ‘kush.
It has been embarking on surveillance activities, raids, demolitions and arrests.
With these actions, the Legal & Justice Department has successfully secured convictions for several suspects and had recently arrested and charged to court.
One of the victims is a deputy Head teacher attached at the District Education Community (DEC) Primary School (Central). 43-years-old Ibrahim Sorie Kanu and 19- years-old Yelie Conteh, were arrested on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 at Rottom Mango Kabala in a prohibited area with 11 wraps of kush, 2 wraps of canabis sativa & a packet of ‘rizla’ in his possession.
The accused person was charged with the offense of unlawful possession of cannabis sativa to section 8(a) of the pharmacy and drugs control Act 1988.
Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Daboh said the prosecution had adduced sufficient evidence presented before the court.
He sentenced the Head Teacher to 8 months imprisonment for being unlawfully found in possession of the prohibited substance abuse called (kush & canabis sativa) for frequenting a prohibited place notorious for the sale & consumption of illicit drugs.
And he was held for other related offenses. Others are sentenced by one Alie Sillah for 12 months imprisonment.
Sahr Jeremiah Komba 8 months imprisonment, Yatie Conteh and Poreh Sankoh 1 month imprisonment
The matter was prosecuted by police Constable 14071 Mustapha Massaquoi
