The Chief Electoral Commissioner for the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh has expressed his dissatisfaction over the use of unprinted words (mammy coss) against him by members of a certain political party.
Addressing different political party members, Civil society Organisations and the media at a meeting held at the ECSL conference room on Wednesday 7th June,2023, the National returning officer said he has been exercising patient over the use of invectives on his mother whom he said he cherished the most.
“Some of us here our mother sent us to school to do what we are now doing today, so I will tolerate anybody to abuse my in the name of politics,” he vented his bitterness over the issue.
He called on all political parties to condemn such act of their supporters, adding that political parties’ supporters are threatening the lives of their children.
Mr. Mohamed Kenewui Konneh furthered that he has taken an oath to do his work in the best interest of Sierra Leone “I will not tolerate anybody threatening my family and today I am too emotional,” he noted.
He continued that there is just 18 days left to go to the ballot box and disclosed that some supporters have even threatened to burn the Headquarters of ECSL and PPRC.
