The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Thursday 8 February 2024 laid in-state and signed the Book of Condolences for late Hon ambassador, Dauda Sulaiman Kamara, at the State Hall of Parliament in Freetown.
In attendance were: the speaker of parliament, Hon.Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, the leadership of parliament, MPs, ministers, APC party stalwarts, statesmen, and family members.
According to the chairman and master of ceremony, Sheku Lamain Turay, the late statesman was a dedicated Sierra Leonean who had served the nation diligently.
He said during the deceased time in parliament, he was Deputy Minority Leader of APC and later minister of government and an ambassador to several countries around the world.
In his tribute, the leader of government business, Hon.Mathew Nyuma, described the deceased as someone who stood tall to serve humanity. “He was known for his political tolerance,” he disclosed and he heaped praises on him for his positive attributes.
He told distinguished mourners that the deceased footprints for the truth were earmarked by many people.
He used the opportunity to advise the mourners and politicians to follow the late man’s footsteps especially with the attribute of speaking the truth.
Speaking on behalf of the APC, Hon. Ambassador Osman Foday Yanseneh, said the deceased had served Sierra Leone diligently.
He continued to speak of the late man’s integrity and told distinguished mourners that his eternal parting would leave an indelible mark on the APC.
He recognized on behalf of many the deceased contributions to imparting knowledge to others, his leadership trait and service delivery to mankind.
He said the deceased revived the APC and extensively spoke on his instrumental role.
In his tribute as a family member, the former Vice President of Sierra Leone, Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana, said the country has lost a fallen hero who used to love his family so much.
He described him, the late personality, as a mentor, teacher, and one who served the nation with an impeccable character.
He recalled many other attributes of the deceased as he said:
“You served the nation of Sierra Leone, not only the Limba community” he revealed.
A former member of parliament and close friend to the late man, Hon. ambassador Ibrahim Sorie, described the deceased as a parliamentary icon.
He was not just an elder brother, he said, but a teacher with unshakable record made while in parliament.
“He was a man of all seasons, a man of all corners,” he said. He continued to recall his impressive contributions to the APC.
“We will continue to remember him for his good deeds and fairness,” he disclosed.
