The Director of Operations at Police Service, Dr. Martin Senesie, says recently that the Inspector General of Police gave the Sierra Leone Police’s Marine Wing at Jui axis one outboard machine and one wooden boat for onward patrols along the Portee and Devil Hole waters.
According to Director Senesie, since citizens are fast approaching the festive season, so they have braced up to calm security concerns in the country.
He said security measures to protect tourists would be enhanced too.
He said ten (10) senior officers have been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police and six others have also been promoted from Assistant Commissioner of Police ranks to Commissioners of Police.
He also noted that presently they are reviewing the police act, which is now at the Law Officers Department.
Director of Training, AIG Sahr Yuma Senesie said they had conducted twenty one (21) trainings in which one thousand officers have benefited.
He also informed the media that they had also embarked on doing eighteen international trainings for police for which thirty officers benefited.
According to him the Sierra Leone Police is gradually transforming from a force to a service.
Director of Traffic, Commissioner Abdul Moijoi said they have launched an operation called “Operation Unlicensed and Uninsured,” in which they have impounded a total of 54 vehicles.
He also said that they had done with transfers of Divisional Traffic Office from one deployment jurisdiction to the other.
