In a recent interview with Real Madrid defender at the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC) Sports World, Antonio Rüdiger, has revealed his dream of “creating a lot of jobs” in Sierra Leone especially for the needy.
Rüdiger’s comments came during a question and answer session where he discussed his aspirations.
He added that his love for Sierra Leone goes beyond words. The player had proudly displayed the national flag, Leone Stars, during his official unveiling at his club, Real Madrid.
His enthusiasm was further hardened in January 2022 when President Julius Maada Bio officially named Rüdiger as the country’s Brand Global Football ambassador.
The ceremony held at State House in Freetown, saw Rüdiger receiving a diplomatic passport with the backing of his family, well-wishers, and government officials at the time.
The zealous defender isn’t just using his platform to raise awareness for the country’s development; he’s actively making a difference back home. Rüdiger had established a foundation dedicated to helping underprivileged Sierra Leoneans.
He has also shown his philanthropic spirit through his previous donations made to the country, including over a $100,000 meant to support free quality education and has donated his entire 2022 World Cup bonus which was used to fund life-changing surgeries for children in the country.
Rüdiger’s commitment to Sierra Leone is both inspiring and impactful.
His dual focus on football and job creation has showcased his desire to empower his mother’s homeland both on and off the field.
