Plymouth keeper Michael Cooper performed heroics to thwart Abdul Fatawu and Ricardo Periera in the early stages as Leicester took a grip on proceedings.
Having weathered the storm with a back-to-the-wall approach, Plymouth pressed open the visitors with a finish of real quality.
Plymouth’s ninth home win of the season moved them up to 16th in the table and they now sit five points clear of the drop zone.
