At least Sierra Leone has been given the greenlight to host the 2024 WAFU Zone A Women’s Champions League qualifiers in the country.
That is according to WAFU Zone A Executive Director Mapathe Gaye.
The decision comes after a successful inspection of facilities in Bo City, AND inspection of the stadium, training pitch, and the seating accommodations.
The tournament will be held from August 2nd to 11th, 2024, and will see 6-8 female league champion clubs from WAFU A member associations battle it out for regional glory.
Meanwhile, Guinea and Senegal have thrown their hats in the ring to host the WAFU A U-17 Zonal qualifiers after.
The Gambia withdrew due to logistical challenges, specifically the lack of an MRI scan machine in Banjul.
The WAFU A secretariat will announce the new host in the coming weeks.
The qualifying which serves as a stepping stone to the CAF U-17 tournament was originally planned for October 20th to November 3rd 2024, in The Gambia.
