Andrew Sesay was reportedly last seen in Sierra Leone 12th August 2022, two days after the 10th August protests that disrupted daily routine not only in the capital- Freetown but also in other parts of the country, particularly in Port Loko- northwest of Sierra Leone.
Sesay has been accused of taking active part in the violent protests, particularly in his area where roadblocks were formed, disrupting activities on that day.
During the ensuing house-to-house search for protesters, a youth, who supports the ruling Sierra Leone People s Party (SLPP) regime, said Sesay was one of the protesters who was very active during the protests, a reason Sesay was one of those targeted by the police as he is considered a staunch supporter of the current main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) party.
He said Sesay was searched for at his mothers residence and in the neighborhood; but up to the time of going to press, Sesay has not been since, although a neighbor said he last saw Sesay two days after the violent protests.
Civilians as well as some police officers were attacked on August 10, resulting in the deaths of not only civilians but some police officers as well, not to talk of the destruction of properties.
The police are still arresting suspects of the August riots.
