Since the death of Chief Kposowa iii, the Paramount Chieftaincy of Bumpe Ngao was thrown into contest.
Various ruling houses showed interest in filling the gap including the Gbekpas, Makavoray, Kposowas, Kobba Jongo, Bakers, and so-called Sovula Gbandoma.
Reports reaching this medium indicate that despite appeals by five ruling houses including the Gbekpa, Kposowa, Makavoray, Kobba Jongo, and Sepeh Berewa ruling houses putting a hold on the conduct of elections due to various reasons including ineligibility of the Alfred Sovula Gbandoma, the election was conducted by the Acting Provincial Secretary and Alfred Sovula Gbandoma II was declared PC elect.
The petition continued in the high court precided over Justice Alfred Ghanda. In December 2024, the Hon. Justice Ganda issued a court order that the PC elect should not be inaugurated and that the administrative officers of the Bumpe Chiefdom should remain in office until the petition is heard and determined.
On Thursday 23rd January 2025, the Senior District Officer, Bo District Mr. Idrissa Kamara called a meeting in Bumpe town and declared that there will be no other Paramount Chieftaincy election in Bumpe adding that it is the position of the government, failing to know that the matter is in court pending hearing. This is a blatant disregard for the judiciary and rule of law. It is insulting and an affront to the justice system in the country.
This has prompted reactions from the Chiefdom which is a Class A Chiefdom with some people saying the SDO acted out of personal interests and that he seems to be acting against court directives.
