Three accused who identified themselves as Abubakarr Turay, Fatmata Bangura and their daughter Kadiatu Turay were remanded in custody by the principal Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1, Magistrate Sahr Kekura for stealing $7,000 at the premises of Kai Kamara whiles staying at the house as caretakers.
The accused were arraigned before the court on two count charges of conspiracy contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charge sheet indicated that the accused on Wednesday 15 January, 2025 at Fadika Drive, Hill station in Freetown, conspired together to commit a crime to wit larceny.
The charge sheet furthered that the accused on the same day and place did steal the sum of seven thousand United States dollars ($7,000) equivalent to one hundred and seventy thousand one hundred Leones property of Kai Kamara.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons the first accused Abubakarr Turay pleaded not guilty of the offense whiles her wife Fatmata Bangura and daughter Kadiatu Turay pleaded guilty of the offense.
At this juncture the prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Aminatu Daboh sought for an adjournment that the witnesses were absent in court.
The accused were unrepresented and so no bail application was made on their behalf.
They were remanded and the matter comes up on 31st January, 2024 for further hearing.
