Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road court No2, on Wednesday 29th January 2025, ordered surties of Patricia Laverly to produce her on the next adjourned date or a different line of action will be taken.
He said this shortly after the matter was mentioned in court but the accused was again absent.
When the matter was mentioned by State counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay, the accused was absent.
Lawyer M S Koroma one of the defense counsel for the accused, informed the court that the accused was absent in court due to her health condition, noting further that he had made certain application at the high court for the extension of the medical leave and that the matter had not been heard.
He requested for one more date, stating further that the surties are in court to show that they treat the case with the seriousness it deserves and are willing to cooperate with the court .
State counsel Yusuf Isaac Sesay, in reply, said from the last adjourned date to now.
He said by virtue of their last application to the high court for the accused to go on a medical leave.
It was not renewed and threaten a contempt of court.
He said the accused had disobeyed the court as the application for her to travel on a medical leave.
According to him, that was not how it supposed to be as the court could no longer continue to tolerate their action noting further that they wanted to proceed with their matter.
He said he raised the issued on the last adjourned date to for them to go back to the high court for extension of the order.
Magistrate Bangura having listened to both sides, and ordered the sureties to produce the accused Patricia Laverly on the next adjourned date or will take the necessary action.
The matter was adjourned to the 5th February 2025.
It could be recalled that the accused Patricia Laverly was before the court for assaulting the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Madam Nabila Farida Tunis.
