As a patriot and development oriented citizen, the wise bird, while witnessing one of the sittings in Parliament jumped sky-high when he overheard one of the most respected Members of Parliament who also doubled as Deputy Leader of Government Business Hon. Basihru Silikie hammering the nail on the head, in respect of the deplorable condition of roads across the country.

The wise bird was about jumping down the Well to carry the Hon. Silikie shoulder high for his excellent presentation which he regarded as development for all irrespective of whatever affiliation.

Given the docile nature of the Authority, the Hon. MP was very quick to ask the question whether the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) is still in existence. In every respect, the bird did not only regard that statement or question as a slap on the face of the Director General of SLRA, but a total humiliation.

Like the SLRA, Hon. Silikie also angrily commented on the number of stationary vehicles parked along the main roads, shifting the blame squarely on sister SLRSA for doing nothing to address the menace.

He insisted unworthy vehicles and corresponding bad road conditions and the reckless nature of some drivers nationwide are some of the key factors responsible for frequent road accidents along main highways.

Although it was a brilliant presentation, but it never came as a surprise to the patient who had made several calls and references to the issue but all fell in deaf ears. The senior official’s revelation just gave credence to the patient wise bird’s concerns.

The bird has been drawing attention to the increased number of portholes especially in the capital city and the deplorable condition of the roads network in the entire country.

As reference, the most respected animal has kept talking about the poor construction work done at Fourah Bay Road approaching Eastern Police and Goderich Street in central of the Capital, Freetown.

But despite all the efforts the patient bird has made over the period to ensure the concerned authorities do the needful, it appears however that it was just like pouring water on duck’s back.

But what has baffled old Parrot more is that, it seems the authorities particularly at the Sierra Leone Roads Authority are above investigations because the patriotic animal could remember when last the Authority was queried for its lack of oversight functions, given the poor work some contractors are doing.

But again, Bra Parrot can understand why ha, ha, ha!  This situation and several more has continued to President Bio administration a very bad image as some people are treated as sacred cows. But again, this is Sierra Leone!

The wise bird is not like other birds that only look at issues with single lens and forget about it in totality, for his undisputed credibility and integrity; he used to follow up matters to its logical conclusion.

The bird as usual went out to get the views of people on the topical issues. And all those he met expressed similar sentiments that the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) is among the reckless institutions in President Bio’s administration. They described it as a mere waste of taxpayers’ money and therefore the Authority does not worth existing.
