Even though the second and final term of office of President Julius Maada Bio is pretty three years away, many of those who want replace him especially from the two main political parties, his ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) have already stepped up their campaigns, much to the chagrin of their respective party leaderships.
This situation is said to have particularly infuriated President Bio who is said to have already warned all those within his party against the early campaign which he has viewed as nothing more than power thirst.
The president has insisted that those aspiring to become the party leader or eventually become the next president must at this time focus their attention to development activities than drawing daggers against each other, which he said, has the propensity not only to divide the party but undermine its chances to win future elections.
As of present, more than fifteen aspirants from the two political parties APC and SLPP have so far shown interest in their party leadership.
Many Sierra Leoneans have however expressed their anger and disappointment over the issue, noting that the country’s politicians are nothing more hypocrites and gluttony who care of for themselves.
