26 years old student Foday Salam Kamara and 44 years old Alimamy Abudeen Kamara a private security agent made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit conspiracy contrary to law and office breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Monday 23rd December, 2024 at No.39 Adelaide Street, the western area in Freetown jurisdiction conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused persons with intent to steal broke and entered into the office of the CEO and stole the sum of one hundred and nine thousand leones (109,000) property of Abdul Rahman Kamara.
The Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor led in prosecution witness number one Abdul Rahman Kamara a pharmacist said he know the accused person who used to deputize him at the pharmacy but denied knowing the second accused person. He recalled on 23rd December, 2024 something transpired between himself and the accused person on the above date. He said he was in Kambia when he got a call at around 11:30am from one of his nurses who gave him certain information upon which he said he travelled to Freetown immediately. He added that upon his arrival in Freetown, he went straight to his pharmacy at 39 Adelaide Street in Freetown where he met the nurse who called him together with one police officer and went into his office and found out that the window was broken, that the safe in his office has a key and code that only one person in the whole world knows where the key was. The said key has been in the custody of the police. At this juncture, the prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date for her to get proper conference with her witness.
Counsel representing the accused M. Amara applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused persons that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction, that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf, and that he will not interfere with prosecution witnesses nor will he jump bail. He made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura granted the accused bail in the sum of two hundred thousand leones each or one surety each in like sum, sureties must be resident in Freetown, must be employees from recognized institutions in Freetown and produce proof of employment letters including their residential status in Freetown and bail to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar. Matter was adjourned to 14th February, 2025.
