St. Edward’s Senior Secondary School in Kingdom in Freetown, had on Thursday, February 6, 2025 marked its 103rd Foundation and Flag Raising Ceremony with a vibrant celebration attended by alumni, students, and dignitaries. Hon. Bashiru Silikie, Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, is himself a proud old Edwardian from the 1999-2000 academic year, and had the honour of raising the school’s flag during the ceremony.
The event was a moment of pride and reflection as Edwardians from different generations gathered to commemorate the legacy of one of Sierra Leone’s oldest and most prestigious schools.
Hon. Silikie expressed his joy and privilege in being part of the occasion, emphasizing the strong bond shared by old Edwardians.
He called on fellow alumni, both in Sierra Leone and abroad, to actively participate in the school’s activities and contribute to its growth. He stressed that supporting the school was a way of giving back and ensuring that future generations of Edwardians continue to benefit from quality education and a strong foundation. He encouraged old students to join alumni associations and reconnect with their roots, highlighting that such involvement strengthens the school community and enhances its development.
