“I want all of you appointed by President Julius Maada Bio to note that your successes in your different positions or offices will never stop the All People’s Congress (APC) party from coming to power.”
The opposition Leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo made the submissions in a significant turn of event in the Chamber of Parliament told the Presidential appointees.
Hon. Abdul Kargbo said it is not only a political party to seek to come to power, but it is for it to ensure that it leaves outstanding legacies, with people telling their great stories to others tomorrow.
“You are there because of SLPP or APC but you are appointed based on your qualifications or your integrity and output.”
” The President has bestowed confidence in you that you can deliver and that is the reason you are being appointed,” he told appointees.
The leader has also expressed dismay over the long standing tough situation that the country is facing today which he attributed to bad governance and politics.
“One way or the other, we are related not biologically but through relationships started at the university level, therefore politics should not separate us,” he advised.
He reinterated that most of the appointees are brothers and sisters from university level and admonished them to go and do the work for which they are appointed for.
Hon. Kargbo further advised appointees to go and serve the people of Sierra Leone, not just a single person or a political party; but for the good of all Sierra Leoneans.
The Deputy Leader of Government Business, Hon. Bashiru Silikie urged the nominees to deliver on their work because they were responsible for the development of the country.
The MP stressed that the nominees were responsible for their re-election by the people or dismission by the voters, adding that their failure to develop the country would not only affect the people but also the President, and MPs of the ruling party amongst others.
He used the opportunity to explain their roles and responsibilities as MPs.
“Please go and deliver,” he said.
Adding that“Government is not giving us a dime to take development to our people.”
