Gabriel McDuffie, a London-based Sierra Leonean wrestler and a boxer has showcased his skills at the English Senior Open.

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, he was able to achieve an admirable record before facing unexpected challenges.

The wrestler made waves by securing victories in two key matches as he defeated a strong competitor from Mongolia and another from Iran.

His impressive performance propelled him to the semi-finals, putting him in contention for a coveted title. However, an unfortunate injury which coupled with personal circumstances, forced McDuffie to withdraw from the semi-final round.

Despite stepping back from the tournament, he secured a respectable fifth-place ranking, underscoring his talent, showing determination on the mat.

In November 2024, he demonstrated his dedication by donating 18 wrestling singlets and 10 pairs of shoes to the Sierra Leone Wrestling Association (SLWA), aiming to inspire young athletes and to promoting the sport in his ancestral homeland.
