Hon. Ernest Dura Koroma has taken a pivotal step towards the rehabilitation of the Government Secondary School Madina (GSSM), the oldest government secondary school in Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District.
GSSM, since opened in 1975, has shaped generations of leaders including the honourable himself.
With the support of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, the Law Maker advocacy signals a collaborative effort to restore the facilities in the first government secondary school in the chiefdom.
During a recent visit to the school, Hon. Koroma highlighted the deteriorating infrastructure and the declining standards of the school.
Moved by the dire state of affairs, he rallied stakeholders and engaged the Deputy Speaker to amplify the rehabilitation agenda.
Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, recognizing the strategic importance of GSSM in nurturing future leaders, pledged his unwavering support to ensure that the school is factored in the World Bank funded Rehabilitation of Schools Projects implemented in the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).
Together, the two leaders have engaged to address the pressing needs of the school to give their support. They have asked the government for a similar support to rehabilitate the school.
Their advocacy is around the renovation of classrooms, Principal’s Office, School Hall, and restoration of boarding facilities.
Hon. Koroma emphasized the urgency of action, stressing that “Investing in GSSM is an investment in the present and future leaders of the chiefdom and the country at large.”
