On the 28th of July, 2024, a significant donation ceremony took place at the Di Pool Conference Hall in Kamakwie, Sella Limba Chiefdom, Karene District. The event was graced by numerous dignitaries including the Karene District Football Association, executive members of various teams, the referees association, commentators and others.
Brima Sorie Turay, a well-known football promoter in the district, expressed gratitude for the attendance and announced his commitment to supporting the teams. He presented sixteen-man sets of jerseys with the inscription on them: “Donated by BST,” along with sockets, two balls, and a sum of five hundred new Leone (Le500) to Ya Martha FC and Young Stars FC ahead of the pending final in Kamakwie.
Additionally, he provided two balls to each of the Division One teams, Sella Rangers, and Hippos of Karene, as well as three balls to the district federation and full kits for the referees’ association.
“BST acknowledged the support of the Child Fund Foundation, friends and family for making this initiative possible, “a statement said.
Brima thanked the district federation for providing a platform to contribute to their operations. He advised the beneficiaries to utilize the equipment for their intended purposes.
Santigie S. Kamara, the Public Relations Officer of the Karene District Football Association (KDAF), expressed gratitude on behalf of the association and assured that the balls received would be presented to the chairman. He encouraged others to follow BST’s example in fostering football development in the district and emphasized the association’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for such opportunities.
Abdulai A. Kanu, Captain of Ya Martha FC, emphasized the significance of BST’s donation, highlighting how it resolved their stranded situation during the semifinal match against Sella Stars in Kamakwie. He expressed confidence that the support would greatly contribute to their aspiration of becoming the top team in the district, participating in the country’s top-tier league, and even engaging in international football. The donation was received with much appreciation and applause from football enthusiasts in Kamakwie for their entertaining performance.
