In honor of their forthcoming Prince of Wales Secondary School Centenary Celebrations in April, 2025, the Old Boys of the school, class of 2008 have donated 300 bags of cement and the amount of Le50,000 to the Centenary celebration committee at colourful ceremony on Saturday 1st February, 2025 at the school compound, Kingtom, in Freetown.
The Coordinator for the Class of 2008, Samuel Yemeh Koroma said his Class deemed it fit to make the gesture for the development of the school, underscoring that that is their own little way to pay back to their alma mater.
The Senior Prefect of Class of 2008, Richard Moore Conteh while speaking on behalf of their class also emphasized on the importance of the gesture noting that, this is the second time Class of 2008 has given back to their alma mater, which he said has made them who they are today.
He added that the donation is part of the centenary celebrations to support the numerous ongoing construction works in the school compound as their own little support. , a reason they as class of 2008
He maintained that, today, “it is privilege and honour for us to donate to the Centenary Committee of the Prince of Wales Secondary School, and that the reason for the donation is for the Class of 2008 to be part of the important event.
He therefore encouraged other classes to be part of this momentous celebration so that they can also leave a legacy which they expect others to emulate in the future and be part of history of the school’s development.
He described their effort as a challenge for both senior and junior classes to come on board as nothing is too small to give back to their Alma Mater.
The Centenary Committee Chairman, Reginald Fynn, whilst receiving the items on behalf of the executive and the entire membership expressed appreciation for the kind gesture.
He recalled that prior to this heralded celebration, the school has proudly produced eminent people who have continued to contribute meaningfully to national development. He furthered that such opportunity doesn’t easily come by and that he is happy that the Class of 2008 seized this moment to join the rest of the Centenary Committee to ensure that when history is written for the celebrations of the 100 years, Class of 2008 would be part of it.
