There is no secret about it that President Maada Bio’s administration was thrown into total darkness from the very moment it came to power some six years ago.
Unlike his predecessor erstwhile President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma who promised twenty four hour power supply within one hundred days in power, the incumbent has not been able to achieve such remarkable feat within the last six years, which Sierra Leoneans including his own party members have described as a failure.
Following this ugly development, the most respected animal has been getting disturbing news from the general public in respect of the continuous power-cut (blackout) that has deprived not only business places but common homes as well.
Of course, except for those who may want to be economical with the truth, but can attest to the fact that when President Julius Maada Bio came to power in 2018 he met 24hr electricity supply especially in the capital city Freetown.
As a way to salvage the aged old problem, the President appointed Alhaji Kanja Sesay as his Minister of Energy to improve on the light system in the country, but unfortunately it didn’t work out the way he thought it would.
To be fair with Alhaji Kanja Sesay as former Minister of Energy, there was reasonable supply of light in Freetown.
However, the wise bird noticed that, immediately Kanja Sesay resigned sometime last year leaving the ministry without head, the capital city was immediately plunged into total darkness.
To address the unending or perennial situation if not permanently, the President in his wisdom took over the reign of the ministry as minister of Energy to fill the void.
But from the look of things, that initiative has not worked as expected, as it has become worst up to date, given that certain areas within the city have gone without light for days if not months.
Upon investigations by the wise bird, it has been revealed that, the government is allegedly indebted to the Karpowership supplying the city to the tune of $US90M which is why the city has continued to experience persistent blackout.
The question the wise bird wants to ask is that who will sack the President as Minister of Energy even when the institution is not performing?
As usual the bird went out to get the views of people and those he contacted expressed disaffection over the poor power system in the capital city.
Others though mocked the president to use moonlight as source of Energy to supply power to the city.
Bra Parrot has realized that even with the appointment of the former UN energy expert Dr. Kandeh Yumkella has not helped to sanitize the chronic electricity problem in the country, with aggrieved citizens describing it as another sham.
The wise bird is in a confuse state of mind; because the appalling power situation still remains a serious concern.
To find a better solution to this never ending problem, the wise bird can say without hesitation that President Bio has the first and final say as Energy Minister and President.
So my advice as patriotic citizen of this country is to continue to pray for divine intervention.
