Twenty-eight-years-old Alhaji Kargbo, who is a gardener, had made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2.
He was standing on a count charge of Larceny as contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Friday 21st February 2025 at Fourah Bay College campus, University of Sierra Leone, located on the mountain rural district in the Western area in Freetown, the accused stole two trips of a half inch granite stones each valued five thousand Leones (5,000) with all valued at ten thousand Leones(10,000).
The granite stones are possessed by Fourah Bay College.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.
Sergeant 3379 Theresa Bally was the prosecution witness number one.
While Joseph Mattia, who is a security at Fourah Bay College University, said he came to know the accused person on the very day of the incident.
He recall of something that transpired on 21st February 2025 between himself and the accused person.
The witness said he was on a patrol at the hours 16:30 to 17:00 when he saw the accused carrying a load of stones.
The stones were gathered at the College campus.
The witness said they were granite stones upon.
Acting on what he saw, he had cause to arrest the accused and took him to FBC police station.
The witness said the stones are valued at 10,000 Leones as explained at the police station.
The accused person was not legally represented and magistrate Bangura refused a bail condition because the address of the accused person was not clearly shown.
So he sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown, while the matter was adjourned to 13th of March, this year.
