This medium has been informed that, President Julius Maada Bio frowns at and has warned the membership of the Sierra Leone People’s party (SLPP) to stop the 2028 campaign that is aimed to succeed him.
Sources have it that, many of the government appointees are now directing and focusing their attention on their personal campaigns to succeed the President thereby abandoning their office duties.
Many say, the 2028 elections are far away and people should direct their efforts and energy to achieve the President agenda other than than campaigning to succeed the President.
SLPP intending flagbearers, according to sources are allegedly sponsoring party bloggers to abuse others in an intent to divide the party.
Others stated that, the President’s warning comes at a right time.
Saying telling intending flagbearers to stop the campaigns is in place and it adds more ingredients to what many supporters are also wishing for.
The President has further called for more efforts to translate his agenda into reality.
On his new year address, President Julius Maada Bio has called for unity and economic progress in the country.
He has also expressed his determination to further foster cohesion and development in all sectors and warned against divisiveness and violence in the country.
Recently, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) through its National Executive Council (NEC) has warned all intended Flagbearer Aspirants not to campaign for the top most position now.
The NAC, the highest decision-making body of the SLPP, has announced its commitment to upholding party unity by implementing immediate suspensions for any members actively campaigning for the position of Flagbearer. This measure aims to ensure a fair and orderly selection process for the party’s leadership.
NAC has also promised to inform its members on the appropriate date for the commencement of campaign.
The recent decision made by the National Advisory Council (NAC) has garnered praises from numerous supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
Many of these supporters are emphasizing the importance of concentrating on the president’s agenda at this time, thus suggesting that the party should set aside campaign efforts, as the election period is still away on a considerable distance.
This perspective reflects a desire for unity and focus on current governance rather than a premature drive into electoral politics.
