Our vibrant First Lady has done it again! But any way, our first gentle woman’s actions including her recent utterances in Kono has never been a surprise to the Bird to say the least, given this is not the first time she is making such unwarranted public statements to the annoyance of even her own party members and to the embarrassment of the nation’s father, her husband.

The wise bird was recently in Kono even though uninvited to witness a peaceful protest by workers of Koidu Holdings Mining Company for what they referred to as unfair treatment meted on them by the company. 

The inquisitive animal vividly overheard Maada Fatima Bio who was among the protesters in solidarity bashing at some ministers referring to them as “dogs” in her husband’s government, noting they are only interested in collecting “brown envelops” and doing nothing.

Madam First Lady told the aggrieved workers the action she has in mind that will bring them hope and encouragement, assuring them that their struggles will not go in vain.

She implored them to maintain peace in whatever they are doing as they await the company’s response.

But two things beat the curious bird’s imagination. First, why should peaceful protest was allowed in Kono and not in Freetown or other parts of the country?

Secondly, why should the First Lady referred to some ministers and government officials not only as bribe collectors but even dogs? Any way dis mammy geh power ooh! But yah nar Salon ee nor surprise Bra Parrot at all.

One would have thought at a time like this, the First Lady would have been promoting her ministers and senior government officials instead of bashing them to the dismay of the general public.

For the wise bird to get the views of the people, he went out to sound their opinion on the First Lady’s statement, and all he met expressed dismay over it, stressing that this is not the first time she has made such embarrassing statements.

The First Lady was also quoted as saying that, only those who are supporters of SLPP are true Sierra Leoneans.

“At a time like this if she can boldly say in public that her own party members are receiving bribes is not a surprise to us,” the people said.

The iron woman being the First Lady should always act or behave neutrally because she is considered a mother of all be you APC, SLPP, PDP, UNPP, RUFP or PMDC etc. But interestingly and in sharp contrast of her role, she was at one time seen dancing for a particular candidate during an election to the dismay of onlookers.

They went further to say that Fatima Bio has done a lot not only to discredit her SLPP party but also the Presidency.

As the situation unfolds the bird is keenly watching to see how the office of the President will react to the question of brown envelopes being received by some ministers to be referred to as dogs by First Lady.
