Unfortunately, the Leone Stars have again, suffered unsatisfactory 2-0 defeat against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in their final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Tuesday.
The game, held at the SKD Sports Complex in Liberia, marked the end of Sierra Leone’s campaign, dashing Leone Stars their hopes of qualifying.
Zambia opened the scoring line in the 55th minute with a well-executed goal by E. Banda.
The Chipolopolo doubled their lead in the 71st minute when K.Musonda found the back of the net, thus sealing a victory and leaving the Leone Stars unable to mount a comeback.
This loss leaves Sierra Leone in 3rd place in Group G, having just 5 points out of 6 games played.
Notwithstanding, their low efforts throughout the qualifiers, the Leone Stars fell short of securing a spot in the admired continental tournament.
