In a heartwarming act of generosity, Leonoil Company, one of the leading oil and gas marketing companies in Sierra Leone, yesterday Tuesday 18th March, 2025 donated a significant amount of food items to Masjids in the local communities in its operational areas in Kissy, East End Freetown.

The beneficiary communities were Quarry, Texaco Lorry Park, Low-Cost Housing, Grassfield and the Kissy Police Division Barracks respectively.

The essential food items donated, which ranged from bags of rice to sugar in Masjids in the respective communities, aimed at supporting families in need, were warmly received by the Masjids’ leaderships and community members.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Leonoil Head of Human Resources and Administration, Madam Miniratu Fofanah, said the donation of essential food items to the Masjids was part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) during every Holy Month of Ramadan.

She disclosed that the Leonoil Company donated over hundred bags of rice and sugar that were distributed to the respective Masjids to support the needy Muslims.

The Head of Human Resources said the annual Ramadan donations are always meant to respond to the immediate needs of vulnerable people in communities in their operational areas.

“Our visit to community Masjids is not strange to the people because Leonoil Company always ensures that they meet the needs of immediate community Masjids,” she averred.

The Operation Manager of Leonoil Company, Reginald Sawyer, said the company remains committed to social responsibility and uplifting the communities it serves.

“The annual Ramadan donations become a tradition by Leonoil Company to support immediate communities of its operational areas. We can’t reach out to everyone but with our support to Masjids, the entire community people will benefit,” he said,

Mr. Sawyer further convened the goodwill message of Leonoil Managing Director, Ibrahim Cole, as the communities continue to maintain peace and security in the interest of the company.

The Operation Manager added that the donation of the essential food items to the Masjids is an annual humanitarian gesture of Leonoil Company to support needy Muslims in communities.

The Chief Imam of Suad Masjid in the Quarry Community, Sheikh Ahmad Fuad Kamara, and the respective Chief Imams of Masjid Arafah and Thakuwa Allah, Rahim, Abubakarr Siddique, Thaoheed among other Masjids expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Leonoil Company, emphasizing how such donations would provide relief to struggling Muslim families, especially during these challenging times.

They further said that this year’s donation was nothing strange because Leonoil Company had been supporting their Masjids during the previous Holy Months of Ramadan.

The Chief Imams offered prayers for the company to grow from strength to strength, and also promised to continue remembering them in fervent prayers for the growth of the company.

Councillors Bockarie Marah and Akiratu Caulker representing Texaco, Grassfield, Low-Cost Housing and Kissy Police Division Barracks commended Leonoil Company for its annual iftar donations to various Masjids in the communities.

According to them, though there are many other companies operating in their communities, only Leonoil Company provides essential food supplies to Masjids across its operation areas in every Holy Month of Ramadan.
