Thirty-two years old Ibrahim Jalloh, a driver, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road court No.1 in Freetown on a count charge of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, sometimes in December 2024 at Furniture Allen Town, the western area in Freetown, did steal from the motor vehicle Ford escaped Jeep with registration number ANY 386 the sum of one thousand four hundred United States dollars equivalent to thirty-three thousand six hundred Leones (33,600) and physical cash of one thousand eight hundred Leones all to the total sum of thirty five thousand four hundred Leones (35,400) property of Ishmail Kamel Zayat.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.
Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led in Prosecution witness number one Ishmail Kamel Zayat, a contractor. He recognized the accused person as his former driver and recalled sometime in December 2024, on the above date, the accused told him that he was just from prison and had sore on his feet and wanted him to assist him. The witness said he had some dollars in his vehicle and he went to change it to take the accused to the hospital. At this juncture, the prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date to get proper conference with his witness.
Meanwhile Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown and matter was adjourned to the 28th March, 2025.
