A meat woman at York Road in Waterloo is selling dog-meat to customers at night hours in Waterloo.
She has been doing this ‘evil act’ for years now.
On Monday 12 February, 2024, the woman meat seller at Tombo junction in Waterloo was caught red-handed as she fastened the killed dog at a corner at her home.
A tip off probably by her neighbours or residents at York Road helped the police to identify the seller’s house where she often cooks other the dog-meat along with other meat at her secretive kitchen.
An eyewitness account says the meat seller would always take her meat soup for sale to the Tombo junction all by herself without getting others to know about this; that she is mixing dog and cow meat in the soup.
A bike rider at late night on Monday alarmed at the shocking news:
“This woman is so wicked; she has the gut to sell to people dog peppered soup.”
“We were coming and we saw a crowd of people gathered at her and later she was taken to the police station,” explained the bike rider.
Another eyewitness person explained: “The dog was very big; it could be that she mixes cow-meat and dog-meat to make her pepper soup. She has been feeding people dogs. What an evil act of a means of getting fast- money by some wicked people?” Fatu, a resident at York Road said.
Our observation, Africa 24 newspaper, proves that meat sellers are in the habit of selling to people dog-meat either fried or cooked as soup.
The meat is sold often to passengers on vehicles along some checkpoints or junctions in Waterloo, a densely populated town which is linking the province and the capital Freetown.
“Don’t ever buy meat from them. Otherwise, you will end up eating dog’s meat,” a woman passenger had warned her colleague in a ‘poda-poda’ vehicle that was heading off Freetown to Makeni in the north of Sierra Leone.
